Dysport Injections in Jacksonville

Dysport is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that softens the dynamic wrinkles created by facial expression: forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. At Jacksonville Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery, Dysport is performed in a dermatology office under the medical direction of Dr. Brandon T. Beal, a double board-certified, fellowship-trained dermatologist, with dosing matched to your anatomy rather than a one-size-fits-all template.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is an FDA-approved neuromodulator, the same class of treatment as Botox. It treats dynamic wrinkles, the lines caused by repeated muscle movement: forehead lines, frown lines (the “11s” between the eyebrows), and crow’s feet around the eyes.

By temporarily reducing the activity of the muscles that fold the skin, Dysport lets the lines above them soften, and the constant creasing that deepens wrinkles over time pauses. Treatment is minimally invasive, performed in the office, and most patients return to their normal day right after.

When You See Results, and How Long They Last

  • About one week: forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet noticeably soften for most patients, and some lines may fade substantially.
  • Around 3.5 months: the typical duration before muscle movement gradually returns. Some patients still notice benefits at 6 months.
  • Maintenance: periodic repeat treatments hold the result; your provider will map out a realistic schedule.

How much improvement you see depends on the extent of your wrinkles and the strength of your muscles, and sometimes multiple treatments are needed for a significant change. Results vary, and a consultation is required to determine candidacy.

Natural Results, Not a Frozen Face

We want you to leave our office looking like yourself, with your natural expressions intact. That comes down to conservative dosing and correct placement, decided during a consultation where your provider evaluates how your muscles actually move.

Lines that have become etched into the skin at rest may soften rather than disappear; for texture and etched lines beyond what a neuromodulator can reach, the ResurFx fractional laser is the complementary tool, and your provider will tell you honestly which fits your goals.

Beyond Wrinkles: Other Uses for Dysport

Like Botox, Dysport has applications beyond the classic wrinkle areas in appropriate candidates:

  • Brow lift: relaxing the muscles that pull the eyebrows down can create a subtle, non-surgical lift.
  • Facial contouring and masseter treatment: relaxing enlarged masseter muscles can slim the lower face and accentuate the cheekbones.
  • TMJ, teeth grinding, and jaw pain: overactive masseter muscles may respond to neuromodulator treatment, easing jaw tension and grinding.
  • Nefertiti lift: relaxing the downward-pulling muscles of the jawline and neck bands can smooth and define the jawline without surgery.
  • Gummy smile: relaxing the overactive muscles that pull the upper lip can reduce gum visibility when smiling.
  • Dimpled chin: relaxing the mentalis muscle can smooth a pebbled chin texture.

Because Botox and Dysport overlap heavily, the full rundown of advanced applications, including hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating), lives on our Botox page. Your provider will recommend the right product and the right application for you, including when the honest answer is neither.

Is Dysport Safe?

Dysport is among the most commonly performed aesthetic treatments, with millions of injections administered. Complications are uncommon when treatment is performed by experienced medical providers in a medical setting. As with any injection, side effects may include bruising at the injection site, temporary eyelid drooping (ptosis), or headache. We discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives during your consultation.

Dysport vs. Botox

Dysport and Botox are both FDA-approved neuromodulators for the forehead, glabella (frown lines), and crow’s feet. They work the same way, and neither has been shown to produce superior results overall. Some patients respond differently to each product, which is exactly why we offer both: your provider recommends the one that fits your muscles and your goals, not a house favorite.

Common questions

Dysport FAQs.

How long does Dysport last?

Typically around 3.5 months, with some patients noticing benefits at 6 months. Duration depends on your muscles and metabolism, and periodic maintenance treatments hold the result. Results vary by individual.

Dysport or Botox?

They are very similar, and neither is superior overall. Some patients respond differently to each product. We offer both, and your provider will recommend the one that fits you at your consultation rather than defaulting to a house favorite.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice softening within about a week, with the full effect settling in over the following days. If anything needs fine-tuning after that, a follow-up visit addresses it.

Will I look natural?

That is the goal. The overdone look comes from over-treating, and it is avoidable with conservative dosing and placement matched to your anatomy. You should still look like yourself, just more rested.

Does insurance cover Dysport?

Cosmetic Dysport is typically paid directly. We are upfront about costs before anything is scheduled, and current information is on our pricing page.
