What are Fillers?

Dermal cosmetic fillers are a non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation. They can soften lines and restore volume and fullness to the face. This technique is also known as soft tissue augmentation. Soft tissue augmentation can plump lips, enhance facial contours, such as your cheeks or jawline, and soften wrinkles, helping you look as good as you feel.

In the hands of skilled, expert cosmetic dermatologists, fillers can restore and enhance natural beauty with subtlety and immediate results. By profoundly understanding facial anatomy and aging, we can address the underlying causes of facial aging and wrinkles, giving you a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Today’s fillers are safer, longer lasting, and provide more predictable results than older generations of fillers.

Our expert cosmetic dermatologists will listen to you during your consultation, perform a thorough evaluation, and provide an individualized treatment plan to address your needs and concerns.

Concerns cosmetic fillers can address:

Cheek, smile lines (nasolabial folds), and marionette lines (perioral) rejuvenation  (link to cheek filler page)

  • Facial contouring provides you with an enhanced anterior projection of your cheeks.
  • Reduce smile lines (nasolabial folds).
  • Soften or eliminate marionette lines (perioral lines).
  • Provide you with a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Did you know?

Blush is a form of facial contouring that enhances cheeks. Dermal filler can be used similarly to restore cheek volume and contour, giving you a permanent natural blush.

Hand Rejuvenation

  • Decrease the appearance of veins, tendons, and bones on the backs of your hands.
  • Restore your hand volume to a natural and youthful fullness

The backs of your hands show signs of aging, similar to your face.

Tear Trough (nasojugal groove)

Dark circles under your eyes make you look tired?

  • Restore natural fullness to your under eye for a refreshed look
  • Immediate results with minimal downtime

Lip Rejuvenation

  • Enhance your lip contour and shape
  • Add fullness to your lips (pouty or plump lips)
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Correct downturned corners of your lips

Earlobe Rejuvenation

  • Provide stability to your earlobe to showcase your earrings

Our earlobe loses structure as we age, and our earrings start to point down instead of out. With minimal support from filler, your earlobes will have the support they need to showcase your earrings.

Redefining the Jawline and Neck

  • Recreate a sharp and defined jawline
  • Reduce skin laxity and sagging

What are the Best Dermal Fillers?

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Juvederm or Restylane products)

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most popular fillers used today. HA is a natural substance found in your skin. HA fillers can provide a soft fill that is perfect for your lips. Other HA fillers are firmer and provide more lift, which is ideal for enhancing your cheeks and jawline. HA fillers are non-permanent fillers that last from 6 months to 24 months, depending on the type of filler, the anatomic location, and individual patient characteristics. Common HA products include Juvederm® and Restylane®.

Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxylapatite)

Calcium hydroxylapatite is a naturally occurring compound in our bones. It provides excellent correction for deeper creases, such as restoring fullness to the backs of our hands. It can also enhance the fullness of the cheeks and other facial contours. Radiesse®  lasts from six to twelve months.

Sculptra (Poly-L-lactic Acid [PLLA])

Sculptra is an FDA-approved filler for facial aging that helps stimulate collagen production to add a natural lift. After Sculptra® injection, it takes several weeks to see the maximum effect. Sculptra injections can last up to two years.

Are cosmetic injectable fillers safe?

All procedures carry some risk. Complications from filler procedures are uncommon when performed by board-certified cosmetic dermatologists.

Possible risks and considerations regarding injectable fillers include:

  • Mild bleeding, bruising, and swelling
  • Under or over-correction of wrinkles
  • Skin nodules
  • Infection
  • Skin necrosis (rare with proper technique and expert injectors)
